The structure of the Conservatory are two concert halls: Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Conservatory (Grand Hall) and Small Hall of Glazunov. Opera and Ballet Theatre takes its origin from the Big Stone Theatre – the first Russian musical theater. It is here that premiered operas by Glinka "Life for the Tsar" and "Ruslan and Ludmila", here in 1847 debuted a great choreographer Marius Petipa.
Theater many times roses from the ashes: the building gone through several fires and subsequent reconstructions. In 1896, under the theater became part of the new building of St. – Petersburg Conservatory. In our time, the repertoire, while maintaining a classical basis, annually is updated and extends. Masterpieces of Opera and Ballet are here in the traditional version. Technical equipment of the hall, which seats more than 1,700 spectators, allows on the stage, not only opera, ballet and drama performances, but also vocal – symphonic concerts of the large form of competitions, shows and festivals.
Concert Hall of Glazunov with the first concert, which took place in 1896, remains the center of academic and artistic life of the Conservatory, serving as the training stage and open the concert hall. Every year more than 100 are held in open-air concerts, involving students, graduate students, graduates and professors of the Conservatory and guest musicians. Hall organizes concert season ticket cycles for different age groups of students, conducts charity events, many of St. Petersburg music festivals organized by the Conservatoire podium his chamber, choral and symphonic evening.
