B Constantine Palace opens exhibition of the works of one of the first photographers Petersburg – Giovanni Bianchi or, as it was called in Russia, Ivan Bianchi. One of the pioneers of photography, since 1852 he has lived and worked in St. Petersburg, removing architectural landscapes of the Northern Venice. Many of his photos are genuine rarities, because they perpetuated Petersburg way it will not see us.
Bianchi captured Isaac's Cathedral at a time when it was built, the Annunciation bridge – from the chapel of St. Nicholas, Voznesensky Prospekt – the bell tower now ruined cathedral …
In 1884, Giovanni Bianchi returned to Italy. The exposition presented in the Constantine Palace, composed of photographic works, left Russia in the XIX century. Today, this exhibition invites viewers to immerse themselves in the era of the emergence of the art of photography – the era of Petersburg, sometimes permanently departed.
