The Great Patriotic War and the blockade have affected every family, every home in Leningrad. The exhibition tells about the life of the inhabitants of the Blok's house – the house number 57 on the street of Decembrists.
Blok's house, like many others, has been disfigured during the war – half destroyed by a bomb in 1942. The memory of this kept the two pictures presented at the exhibition.
The exhibition brings together family heirlooms of blockade days of the residents of the house number 57 – the families of Bukharin and Galaktionov.
From the first day of the blockade and until the last held the family of Vladimir G. Galaktionov spent in the house. Common household items – cutlery – in his memory forever linked with severe childhood memories of the blockade. The family used it during the war in order to maintain their traditional way of life. Photos of the prewar and wartime tell the history of the life of grandparents of V. Galaktionov.
Documents, letters and photographs of family of Arkady and Sofia Bukharin, who lived in the house of Blok from 1910s, talk about how they were not only trying to survive, but also do not lose touch with his granddaughter, evacuated together with the school in the Sverdlovsk region.
Blockade history of the house number 57 complement pictures of friends of Alexander Blok, who died during the blockade.
Also posters and postcards of wartime from the funds of GMI St. Petersburg are demonstrated at the exhibition.
