A few years ago, the artist tried to use as the basis for his paintings the old banner ads, entering into the composition fragments of printing pictures and texts of advertising posters, At the same time A. Zinshtein retains original, often huge, sizes the advertising stretch marks, banners, posters, and calls invented by him technique – "art banner" or "banner painting."
At the exhibition in Peter and Paul Fortress will be presented "art banners", created by the artist in 2012-2014,
Art critic G. Yu Ershov says the following about banner painting of A. Zinshtein: "Expression, Freedom, bright strokes of colour, flowing mobile state of paint – all that is characteristic of his paintings gift, acquire here monumentality and breadth of their sound. Intimate, lyrical motifs of landscape sketches with views of the park, summer lake, Petersburg's streets and squares, paradoxically are connected with advertising basis of old banners show through wherein font, wherein spot colours or images directly among the cheerful chaos of a sweeping painting. Going from easel canvas of small size, the artist seems quite naturally went to the aesthetics of graffiti – his painting seems applied directly on the city walls, representing a palimpsest. The power and strength of the bright, expressive texture especially manifests itself in the image of human figures, forcing the recall of Georges Rouault, Willem de Kooning and Francis Bacon. However, in his creativity manifests itself connection with the St. Petersburg pictorial tradition of unofficial art – from arefevtsev to artists of his circle. "Banner Art" of artist of recent years represents him from an unexpected quarter, as a modern master, who found a new way to represent his art."
