By the end of the 80s, it became clear that the needs of Leningrad is the Museum of Modern Art. I waited for him, like everyone else, i visited the exhibition with the participation of galleries that appear one after another in the city. In the artists of arts met with V. Pushkarev, who wanted to create a museum in Moscow, and M. Sheynbaum who collected works for arena. And I got to know with the collections of S. Laskin, N. Blagodatov, Loginov, Chudnovsky, Sidorov, Frontinsky.
Not wanting to compete with anyone in the value and quality of the collected works, wanted to find "your voice" in the selection of the works themselves and the world as a collection of fold that best suits my ideals in art. I studied and study the case constantly with friends and above all the artists of the older generation, unfortunately, has basically gone. Looking back, I see that the most expensive at the gathering were no pictures, but the people who gave them. Every success of the museum, and therefore my personal relations with our overall progress in the preservation of culture in Russia, and hence its future. For me, collecting works representing tradition, was not the main problem. Although it was necessary to provide guidelines that would better understand what to build next. Since the collection was started 20 – 40's, 50 – 80, and then the 90-ies of XX century. Now it becomes clearer where to go in collecting tomorrow.
