Museum – estate I. E. Repin "Penates" is located 45 kilometers from St. Petersburg, on the Gulf of Finland
It is here that Ilya Repin (1844 – 1930) spent the last 30 years and wished to be buried. Homesteads has become one of the country's first memorial museums under the auspices of the Russian Academy of Arts.
In revived after the war, "Penates" you can see the artist's personal belongings, his paintings and drawings of his son – George and the work of other Russian painters. Just "Penates" contains about six hundred paintings and drawings
The house is preserved memorial appearance of rooms that bear the imprint of the tastes and habits of the host: workshop, dining room, and terrace. Visiting the museum includes acquaintance with an exhibition preview old newsreel depicting Repin in his house, inspection of the memorial park and the surrounding area, which inspired many Russian artists and writers.
Due to the fact that the owners of "Penates" addicted to vegetarianism, the museum preserved some of the recipes of the dishes that were served at the famous round table.
