The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Vladimir Vasilievich Zhukov (1933 – 2017), an adherent of Pavel Kondratiev and Vladimir Volkov. The art of Zhukov, modernistic in form and deeply spiritual in content, is an example of continuation of the Avant – guard tradition on a contemporary level, and an example of how an artist is able to speak about the spiritual in the language of contemporary art. The exposition consists of paintings, drawings and sculptures from the artist’s family collection and from private collections in St. Petersburg, Moscow, and New-York. Selected works by Zhukov’s companions, who formed Pavel Kondratiev’s circle – Pavel Kondratiev himself, Vladimir Volkov, Vera Matukh, Valentina Povarova, Galina Molchanova, Ludmila Kutsenko – will also be presented.
