Exhibition of Anatoly Vasilyev Contemplators. Objects of Contemplation

Anatoly Vasiliev: «A Contemplator is the one who observes inactively the greatness of the universe, the elements, the miracles of God and people. These are theologians, philosophers, ascetics, monks. Artists who get the ideas for paintings directly from the astral world and children, observing the change of landscape from the baby-carriage half-asleep are contemplators. They all can be called VISIONARIES.

Thus I named the characters of my compositions who won’t be «literally» portrayed by inspire liberate painting improvisations. Compositions showing the objects of contemplation: the elements of water, fire, clouds, are also exhibited.

The main constructing method of my compositions is a linear graphic human silhouette against the background of picturesque splashes or ornamental structures».

The presentation of the artistic album of Anatoly Vasiliev from the «Avant-garde on Neva» series will be part of the opening on the 18th of November.
