On the 29-th of October 2015 in the Museum and exhibition center "The Petersburg artist" is opened one of the most anticipated exhibitions in recent years in the Russian realistic art. An exhibition is on such a scale, representing the realistic trend in painting of the second half of the XX century,is taking place in the Northern capital for the first time. Jubilee exhibition project is largest in the St. Petersburg Museum and exhibition center will be presented more than 150 paintings 35 artists of the Leningrad school of painting. The exhibition will include the paintings and sketch-rich material such masters of the Leningrad school of realism, as Boris Ugarov, Ivan Varichev, Sergei Petrov, Engels Kozlov, Victor Reyhet, Nikolai Galakhov, Leonid Fokin, Sergey Smirnov, Leonid Vajshlja, Vasily Borisenkov and other major authors of the Leningrad school of painting.
"The Petersburg artist" is a private museum – exhibition centre,which has developed by collector and philanthropist -Galina Georgievna Stepanova, and has opened in the autumn of 2005. In its ten-year history of the museum – exhibition centre was formed as a special cultural space, uniting lovers of painting and professional artists. Presented here is the original direction in art of XX century and is based on professional education, acquired by the artists at the Leningrad Institute. I. E. Repin. Direction is called Leningrad school of realistic painting, has been developed not only thanks to the Academy of arts, it was formed within a particular environment, associated with specific places, events and people. Currently, the museum includes more than two thousand items of storage.
