Since November 14 at the Hermitage will be host an exhibition, which will introduce the visitors to the Museum of the history of architecture of Finland and Northern development of modern city planners.
In 19-th century Finnish architecture, the design of which was largely borrowed from Russia and Sweden, there was a revolution. The people of Finland decided to create a national architectural style. From that moment an independent path of development of urban development has begun in the North.
Subsequently, under the influence of Finnish architecture began to develop styles such as Nordic classicism and functionalism, art Nouveau. Major figures in this area can be considered Elias Saarinen and Alvar Aalto, the most famous of which is building a concert hall in the Finnish capital, theatre in the German city of Essen and the Russian library in Vyborg.
