The 13th festival "Contemporary Art in Traditional Museum"

From 26 of September to 25 of October 2015 Fund "Pro Arte" and the Northwest Branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts (NCCA) is carried out in St. Petersburg of the 13th festival "Contemporary Art in Traditional Museum" – with the support of the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg and Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation.
The festival "Contemporary Art in Traditional Museum" – this is the first St. Petersburg museum festival that exists since 2000. Each year a number of modern Russian and foreign artists have the opportunity to realize their projects in towns and museums of the city. For a whole month the traditional museum storages transformed into a place where contemporary art is shown. For 15 years, the festival was attended by 70 museums in St. Petersburg, implemented 170 projects by artists from 11 countries.
In 2015, the festival is held in museums and exhibition sites of Vasilyevsky Island. Invited curator of the festival – Alice Prudnikov, director of the Ural Branch of the National Center for Contemporary Art, the commissioner and artistic director of the Ural Industrial Biennale of Contemporary Art. The theme of the festival – "Giperlokal: big discoveries."
For the first time in the history of the festival was organized an exhibition, bringing together all of the projects of the festival. The exhibition presents the "replica" of works implemented in museums, results of studies made by the students of St. Petersburg universities in the museums participating in the festival, installation of Yekaterinburg artist Vladimir Seleznev and photoproject of Rodchenko Moscow School of students under the leadership of Vladislav Efimov. The exhibition is held at the central site of the festival – in creative clusters ARTMUZA.
