The exhibition offers to get acquainted with the results of the joint work in the master classes of participants Petersburg program "School of the young artist" and the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts students KUVA, which passed in the spring of 2013.
The project «Cabinet of Curiosities» is a dialogue between two artistic communities of the northern capital in the hope of long-term fruitful cooperation in the future. At the moment the attention of artists in Finland and Russia are mainly directed to the local context of their country, Europe or the U.S.. In art communities neighboring countries can be traced not only a lack of knowledge about each other's culture, but also the lack of communication and interaction habits.
Objective of the project – to create a dynamic environment for dialogue between young artists, practitioners, which subsequently serve as a basis for long-term professional relationships in the arts.
The project «Cabinet of Curiosities» group, consisting of four Russian and four Finnish young artists spent 9 days in St. Petersburg and Helsinki. In each city, the program students participated in master classes with Russian and foreign artists, were also organized lectures and excursions, which helped to get acquainted with the local artistic context.
In Helsinki, the participants in the project worked with the Finnish-Argentine artist Axel scary attended lectures artist Tellervo Kalleynen met with curatorial group «Checkpoint Helsinki». In St. Petersburg – worked with artist Olga Kiseleva (France), curator Alina Belishkinoy (St. Petersburg), and attended lectures art Olesya Turkina (St. Petersburg) and Eugenia Kikodze (Moscow).
